frequently asked questions

What is derma pigmentation?

Also called permanent makeup and permanent cosmetics.  It is implanting dye into the derma layer of the skin, commonly referred to as tattooing.

Is the process permanent?

Yes.  It fades from 1/3 to 1/2 of the initial color within 5 to 30 days, and will require a second or third application to fill-in and perfect the results.  In several years, a light re-application to enhance a faded color may be required.

Can it be removed?

Yes, through a variety of complicated procedures.  When first completed with the application, any "misplaced" implants will not take until it has been gone over many times.

What kind of dye is used?

We only use approved cosmetic colors, which have been tested for allergens.  However, if you are highly sensitive you should have an implant test prior to completing the procedure.

Why would I consider permanent makeup?

To give a "natural" color or look without additional makeup.  However, additional makeup can be added for a dressed-up look (day or evening).  Permanent cosmetics are used for corrections such as eyebrows that are too light, uneven or thin, smudged or difficult to apply eyeliner; lips that are colorless, uneven or too thin; or to add facial interest with a beauty mark.

How safe is the procedure?

A"probe" (needle) is sterilized when received from the factory and used on only one client.   Following the procedure, the needle is discarded.  Separate probes are used for each color to ensure consistency.   Our products are all sterilized with an Autoclave.

Is the procedure painful?

A topical anesthetic is used to minimize discomfort during the procedure, but you may experience some soreness or bruising during the healing process.
